ON A WEDGE-SHAPED SITE AT A ROAD JUNCTION IN SINT-MARTENS-LATEM, BELGIUM, ARCHITECT JEAN VAN DEN BOGAERDE BUILT THE VILLA ARCA, HIS PERSONAL DOMICILE, IN 1966. THE DESIGN OF THE VILLA ARCA HAS SINCE BEEN LISTED AND PROTECTED AS IMMOVABLE HERITAGE.

The immovable and movable Japanese-style panels make the use of space extremely flexible.

The workspace, which spans the entire ground floor, has a glass facade with the staircase in its centre.

The use of materials shows the elegant simplicity: plaster, wood, corrugated sheets and black PVC.

The house is now inhabited by Belgian interior designer Frederic Hooft, internationally known to combine timeless interiors with the refined nuances of vintage and contemporary furniture pieces.

A great meeting for a two-day shooting in January 2023 with Antwerp-based photographer Frederik Vercruysse, who describes his work as still life photography in the broad sense of the term.
